Rostro (Luis Valseca)
I started tattooing in 1995, when I was still very active in the graffiti scene. Both my tattoos and my paintings have a clear Eastern influence, although I’ve also been inspired by many painters from different periods throughout my life.
I’ve always drawn and painted as a self-taught artist, since I actually studied industrial electronics. But drawing and painting have always been almost a form of therapy for me. From a very young age, they helped me find some calm in a world that often felt overwhelming, full of influences and stimuli that weren’t always positive.
Through art, I found a broader and freer way to express feelings and emotions that I might not have known how to put into words.
That’s why I believe some of my works contain small fragments of those feelings of the soul that we’ve all experienced, or inevitably will someday.
Some of my works also include references to classical paintings I’ve always loved, which, in one way or another, have influenced the way I see and understand art.
